Virus, Spy-ware, Malware Problem, Pop Up Help!?
im getting crazy pop ups and my computer is acting really yucky…
i was wondering… whatever is making these pop ups must be in the windows task manager as an application or a process… am i wrong?
and if it is, how can i identify which it could possibly be?
which user name in the process in the task manager could it be: the system, HP_administrator, local service, or the network service?
i do already have an anti virus program though my isp which is verizon.. but when i run the scan it finds nothing….
anyone who could offer me and help would be greatly appreciated…
thank you soooo much
YES you are right it would be in the task manager. First thing is first try running these free anti-virus software.
First try this one security task managerhttp://www.neuber.com/taskmanager/downlo…
when you install and open it, it would be like windows task manager but more advanced. it would search all running applications and rank them in order of security threat. right click the threat and click on “google it”. before you remove anything i recomend using the next two softwares.
spybot search and destroy from download.comhttp://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-De…
Ad Aware from download.comhttp://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-2007/30…
different programmes find different viruses so try these also
if they dont work then i would advise you to restore your computer go to Start>All Programmes>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore and it is pretty self explanitory from there and if that doesnt work then i recommend you to reboot your computer and if that doesnt work buy a new computer!

first, what kind of winodw pops up, it is not vital it would be
a Virus, spy-ware or malware, it could be a registry, system, terrible file error, please specify what do you see in the popup window, If it was a virus, then you probably need to update your
anti virus curriculum, the Anti virus curriculum would tell you the virus source location. If this didn’t help, use registry fixing tool
I don’t know if the pop-up windows must be shown in task manager or not, if so, it doesn’t mean it is a virus.hope I answered the inquiry
Well, what ever is running, its running in stealth and you will not find it in Task Manager. You need to install a pop-up blocker and a excellent Antivirus with strong firewall. While surfing the net, do not allow suspicious programs to connect to the net. This is possible if you have a firewall active.
Some (in fact, many) forms of Spyware/Adware and probably all modern viruses have a way of hiding from the windows task manager.
Try AdAware, best I’ve used. http://www.snapfiles.com/get/adaware.htm…
AdAware can take out Spyware/Adware but not viruses, but it sounds like you already have the virus scanner covered.
Spyware/Adware can be nasty. They pretty much ruined my last computer.
download spybot search and ruin http://www.safer-networking.org/
update the virus definitions and scan your computer witht it.
do heed the instructions and allow it to backup your data before making changes. excellent luck!
