Advice? I Start A New It Helpdesk Job In The City Tomorrow. I’m Scared Even Though It Usually Goes Well?

I’m qualified for the position as far as tertiary education goes. I haven’t had extensive experience with problem-solving-via-the-phone helpdesk, I’m not really excellent with phone conversations. I’m dreading not being able to help someone with their problem. It’s in the mining sector.

A tough inquiry.
Try recall one vital thing – you know more than the folks who need your help. And, you will be learning new things every day.
If you get really stuck, tell your customer that is the case, and that you will follow-up, then go get the answer from one of your resources (a co-worker, a book, etc.) and follow-through.
Another thing that force help, if you get terribly nervous with a customer is say “I’m sorry, I’m new at this, and I’m very nervous – so I’m having distress expressing myself”. They will probably try to cool you down – its only human! That will also give you a small time to reckon…
Most of all, one thing I’ve learned by hard experience – try to relax and see your success. Imagining stoppage will make it a reality. Believe in yourself. You can do it!
